We wish to bring to your attention concerns expressed by the Kenya Consumer Organization on possibility of presence of toxic artificial Gypsum Boards imported in the country (The Star, Friday, January 29, 2016 [Page 29]), You are requested that the appropriate intervention measures are put in place to prevent issuance of COC for such products destined to the country that do not meet the relevant standards. Specifically, the products should be tested for heavy metal content before certification.

Following media reports in which it has been said that Kenya Power attributes the recent frequent power black-outs to substandard transformers and a statement that they intend to import around 555 transformers in February 2016 (The Star, Friday, January 29, 2016 [Page 38]), I am sending this an as an risk alert for your attention requesting that the appropriate intervention measures are put in place to prevent issuance of COC for transformers destined to the country that do not meet the relevant standards.
