      Botswana COC

      In September 2008, Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS) issued the Regulations on Standard Import Inspection to implement compliance assessment schemes for food, agricultural products, electrical, mechanical, chemical, construction and other major categories of products. With rich experience in compliance schemes in Kenya, Nigeria, Algeria, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Iran, etc., since September 1, 2009, it has officially obtained the exclusive authorization of the Botswana Bureau of Standards to issue the conformity certificate of the product conformity assessment scheme (CoC: Certificate of Conformity) Provide comprehensive and effective solutions for exporters, ensure that exported goods meet the requirements of the Botswana Bureau of Standards, and eliminate property losses caused by rejection at the destination due to product quality failing to meet the requirements of the importer.

      This new evaluation scheme is aimed at all goods exported to Botswana under the catalog, and aims to ensure that the products exported to Botswana meet the corresponding Botswana standards and international standards. The primary objective of this plan is to:

      1. Ensure that products comply with technical regulations and mandatory standards applicable to Botswana (or its equivalent);

      2. Ensure the requirements of Botswana consumers on product quality, health and safety, environmental protection, etc;

      3. Prevent unqualified goods and counterfeit goods from entering Botswana;

      4. Promote trade and commerce, and implement corresponding procedures in accordance with Article 5 of the Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT/WTO).

      Conformity assessment procedure:

      The exporter submits a fully completed application form, Request for CoC and Declaration of Conformity, along with a formal invoice and packing list;

      The above application form should provide a detailed description of the goods, as well as product quality documents such as test reports, technical parameters, quality management system certificates (if any), etc;

      NormalTCI determines feasible implementation plans and applicable standards under the plan;

      If testing is required, it can be conducted in the laboratory of NormalTCI, where NormalTCI coordinates sampling and implements laboratory testing;

      The on-site inspection will be carried out by the inspection office closest to the inspection location after completing the above steps, and all costs will be borne by the exporter;

      After the inspection is completed, the exporter shall submit the final documents (commercial invoice and packing list) to the office;

      Issue a certificate and mail it to the exporter.
