Quality assurance of travel luggage products

China is currently a major producer of luggage and bags. In 2005, the total export value of Chinese luggage exceeded 7 billion US dollars, accounting for nearly 70% of the total import volume of developed countries and regions such as Europe and America. But looking ahead, the export prospects are not optimistic, mainly due to:

1、 There is no independent brand, and the product is cheap.

2、 International trade frictions are becoming increasingly apparent. The previous development model of expanding at low prices and winning by quantity has put Chinese luggage and bags at high risk of international trade friction.

International standards involved in luggage testing

Assessment items:

Assessment items for Class A general products:

craftsmanship level

Check if there are any poor designs or components that pose a risk to the user during use.

Performance of rollers/handles

Under normal load conditions, evaluate the fatigue resistance of the rollers after prolonged rolling, as well as the strength and durability of the handles/shoulder straps.

Assessment items for Class B high-quality products:

Static load test

Set the load to exceed the normal load-bearing capacity and test the strength of the handle/shoulder strap in a static suspension state

Dynamic strength load test of handle

It can simulate the strength of the handle when used under the load of luggage. If the luggage handle is repeatedly pulled and lowered, it will reflect the damage of the material and the poor design of the handle structure.

Assessment items for Class C high-quality products:

Drop test

The normal load-bearing luggage sample falls freely from a certain height a corresponding number of times, and the damage is checked.

Squeezing test

Simulate the compression of luggage during transportation or storage.

Durability test of pull rod

Simulate the process of lifting and lowering the pull rod, and check the fatigue resistance of the pull rod mechanism.

Regarding the box -

Structural stability testing

In terms of material physical properties-

The weight of the fabric, the color fastness of the friction/light between the fabric and leather, and the seam fastness of the buckle/zipper/handle/shoulder strap.

In terms of material chemical properties-

Testing of azo dyes that can release carcinogenic aromatic amines, formaldehyde content, total cadmium content, and hexavalent chromium.

Regarding attachments-

Corrosion resistance of metal parts, durability testing of zipper opening/closing, durability testing of lock opening/closing, shear force, tearing force, and durability of Velcro.
